Shrnutí:School textbooks and teaching materials are a core component of German language instruction, aligned with the curriculum and educational guidelines of the respective federal states. They support teachers in structuring their lessons. Particularly in literature instruction, they provide primary texts accompanied by tasks, contextualization, and background information. However, the teaching of literature places specific demands on textbooks, as literature is not a conventional learning object. One major challenge lies in preventing an overly school-like or instrumentalized approach to literature. In addition, questions arise concerning design, text selection, didactic presentation, and factual accuracy. The contributions in this volume examine textbooks from primary school through upper secondary education with regard to their treatment of literature. They offer impulses for students, trainee and experienced teachers, as well as for teacher training seminars and research in textbook studies and educational research.
