| Summary: | Over the course of 25 years, The Cultural Schoolbag (TCS) has provided pupils across Norway with regular encounters with art and culture across a wide range of genres and forms. This anthology offers a wide range of perspectives of the programme as it appears today, highlighting the scope and complexity of this extensive initiative. Across 23 chapters, artists, cultural practitioners, researchers, and educators present research contributions that examine TCS from a broad range of perspectives and practices. The anthology is organised into seven thematic sections: Art Experiences from School and Student Perspectives; Invitations to Participation; Inclusive Artistic Encounters; Diversity, Identity, and Representation; Pedagogical Experimentation and Art Educational Approaches; TCS in Teacher Education; Art and Cultural Education in Schools: Other Practices. The anthology also looks to the future. If TCS is to remain a programme in development that continues to facilitate memorable encounters with art, research is needed that dares to listen, challenge established assumptions and think in new ways. The ambition is therefore both to make the field more visible and to strengthen it, while opening new spaces for critical inquiry, for the benefit of the arts, the school, and future generations of pupils. |
