Beskrivelse
Summary:This edited volume offers a comprehensive examination of foreign language teaching in higher education, with particular attention to institutional frameworks, pedagogical strategies, and learner-specific dimensions. Published in 2012, it responds to the growing academic and societal interest in multilingualism and intercultural competence, addressing the evolving challenges and opportunities in language education. Organised around the core themes of requirements, orientation, and specificity, the volume presents a diverse range of peer-reviewed scholarly articles. Topics include multilingual learner profiles, the integration of digital media in blended learning environments, the development of metaphorical competence, assessment practices, learner motivation, and language instruction tailored to academic and professional contexts. Both emotional and pragmatic aspects of language acquisition are also explored. Reflecting the multilingual realities of university settings, the volume comprises contributions primarily in German, alongside selected articles in English and French. It remains a valuable resource for educators, researchers, and academic decision-makers engaged in the advancement of foreign language instruction in higher education.
