When gender issues are placed within the context of education, might they stimulate broader discussion and reflection? Education is a vital part of social life—as well as a key arena for advancing gender equality. This volume brings together academic research that critically examines the limitations of gender awareness and its implementation in education, organized into three sections—“Classroom and Teaching,” “Frontline Educators,” and “Macro Development Prospects.” Topics include the influence of textbooks on students’ gender roles, the evolution of home economics curricula, gender differences in learning and subject performance, gender awareness among teachers and principals, and broader analyses of teacher training programs, institutional policies, and the sociocultural context for promoting gender-equal education.
