| Čoahkkáigeassu: | The study aimed to validate a rapid assessment tool for digital illiteracy in rural contexts, using the canton of La Concordia, Ecuador, as a case study. It was developed with the purpose of providing a brief, culturally relevant, and conceptually coherent tool that would allow for the reliable diagnosis of digital skill gaps in areas where unequal access to technology and educational limitations affect digital inclusion. Methodologically, a qualitative approach was adopted based on a systematic and analytical review of studies published between 2020 and 2025 in academic databases and reports from international organizations.
The structure of the instrument was based on the documentary analysis and organized into six dimensions: sociodemographic characteristics, access and basic use of technology, basic digital skills, communication and networks, digital security and critical thinking, and technological use. The validation focused on content validity, internal consistency, semantic clarity, and cultural relevance. The findings show high consistency between the dimensions and contemporary theoretical frameworks, allowing for the distinction of levels of digital illiteracy beyond technological access. Likewise, weaknesses in security and critical thinking were identified, even among frequent users. Overall, the instrument is projected as a useful tool for rapid diagnosis and for planning digital inclusion strategies in rural environments. |
