Der Sammelband ist durch die Frage geleitet, ob die digitale Sphäre eine Materialität vorweist. Antworten werden im Horizont des erziehungswissenschaftlichen Grundbegriffs der Bildung ausgelotet. Ausgehend von unterschiedlichen theoretischen Zugängen umfasst der Band sowohl medienpädagogische und mediendidaktische Bezüge als auch Beiträge aus der Pädagogik der Kindheit, der historischen Pädagogik, der ästhetischen Bildung, der Inklusionspädagogik, der erziehungswissenschaftlichen Geschlechterforschung, der Schulpädagogik, der Erwachsenen- und Weiterbildung sowie der empirischen und theoretischen Bildungsforschung.
