Entscheidend ist dabei, den Erwerb bildungssprachlicher Kenntnisse der deutschen Sprache rasch voranzubringen. Auf den hohen Bedarf an entsprechend qualifizierten Lehrkräften hin wurde in Nordrhein-Westfalen daher seit 2016 die Weiterbildungsinitiative Deutsch als Zweitsprache an elf Universitäten eingerichtet.
