| Resumo: | The research and development project “PULSE” (Professional Learning Networks Using Data for Learning and Student Engagement) has examined how student participation can be realized through educational analysis. This report describes and evaluates a one-year project carried out in five primary and lower secondary schools, where students were involved and given the opportunity to participate in the schools’ quality development efforts. The results show that educational analysis can be an effective tool for enabling student participation in matters related to challenges in teaching and the learning environment.
Students from grades 5 to 9 were actively involved in all phases of the analysis. They were given the opportunity to express their views, were listened to, and participated in the decisions that were made. Teachers used different approaches to involve the students, while clear classroom leadership was a consistent feature throughout.
The report provides practice-oriented examples and evaluations that are relevant for teachers and school leaders who wish to strengthen student participation through systematic work with educational analysis. |
